THE POSITION: Addiction Psychiatry

Position description:

Horizon Health Network, Saint John Area, is actively seeking a permanent, full-time salaried Psychiatrist. The physician shall provide support to clients on the Ridgewood campus and addictions consults to other clinical areas as needed. The programs at our Ridgewood campus includes a 20-bed medical detox unit and a Residential Rehabilitation Concurrent Program (30 – 90 days). We also have outpatient addiction focused counselling at out Mercantile Clinic in Uptown Saint John and an Opiate Replacement Treatment Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The successful candidate will work closely with the Area Manager to ensure quality of service delivery within a multidisciplinary team. This would include helping to review and develop treatment protocols and programming that would best support individuals with serious primary and co-morbid addictions.

Teaching of medical students, psychiatry residents and family medicine residents is an integral part of this position as we are an Academic Department. The successful candidate should ideally have experience teaching in an academic setting and would be required to apply for a clinical academic appointment from the Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University, Halifax and Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador as both faculties of medicine have medical learners training in Saint John.
