THE POSITION: OBGYN
The Chaleur Regional Hospital, in Bathurst, New Brunswick is seeking to recruit a full-time OBGYN. The successful candidate will join a team of four OBGYN’s. The chosen candidate will perform duties with considerable clinical independence in the diagnosis, care and treatment of medical disorders within his or her specialty. He or she performs with independent judgment, deliver services to in and outpatient and act as consultant to other physicians. He or she will be responsible for gynecology and obstetrics care to the population of the Zone 6.
Overview of the Chaleur Regional Hospital – The Chaleur Regional Hospital has approximately 215 beds and provides a wide range of primary, secondary, regional and specialty services that mostly include all the main surgical services. Approximately 90 family physicians and 60 specialists serve a population of 75,000. The Chaleur Regional Hospital is an authorized partner of the Francophone Family Medicine Program of New Brunswick, affiliated with the Université de Sherbrooke, and of the nursing programs at the Université de Moncton and the University of New Brunswick, in Fredericton.
Overview of the regional health authority – Vitalité Health Network is one of the two regional health authorities in New Brunswick. The Network is the only Francophone managed organization of its kind in the country and provides services in nearly 70 sites and points of service throughout four health zones, covering all of the northern region and part of the southeastern region of the province. Services and care are provided in the official language chosen by the patient and are available at home, in the community, or in a facility, according to needs. The range of services includes disease prevention and health promotion, treatment of illness, rehabilitation, home care, and palliative care. Additional services provided by hospital facilities include public health, community mental health, addiction, community health centres, the Extra-Mural Program, and veterans' centres. The Network is also active in the training and research fields, which helps to keep the staff’s skills up to date and plan for succession. This is professional medical work performed by certified specialists (those with a specialty certification as recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of NB). Duties are performed with considerable clinical independence in the diagnosis, care and treatment of medical disorders within the scope of the specialty in which they are practicing. Work is performed with independent judgment but findings and observations may be subject to supervision and assessment by the physician’s Clinical (Program) Department Head / Chief of Service / Program Director in which the physicians works. Review of work may also be supervised by the local and regional Chiefs of Staff and the zone’s Medical Director for the Regional Health Authority (RHA). The physician works within the accordance of the RHA Bylaws.
Remuneration is based on a fee-for-service model, according to which New Brunswick Medicare pays fees directly to the physician for any service provided. Payroll deductions cannot be provided.
• The candidate must have his certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification (FRCPC)
• Graduate from an approved school of medicine supplemented by post-graduate study in the area of specialization (Gynecology)
• The candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick. https://www.cpsnb.org/

Bathurst is located at the mouth of the Nepisiguit River in the Chaleur Bay.
