Position Description:
The Moncton City Hospital (MCH) is a 386-bed tertiary care teaching hospital affiliated with Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine. It serves as an arthroplasty referral centre and performs a high volume of joint replacements annually. The hospital is part of Horizon Health Network, the largest health authority in New Brunswick.

- Compensation is through Fee for Service billing with Medicare NB
- 4 hours of Orthopedic clinic time per week

Job Duties:
The Department of Surgery at The Moncton City Hospital (part of Horizon Health Network) is inviting applications for a full-time Orthopaedic Surgeon with fellowship training in arthoplasty. This permanent position will join a dedicated team of 7 orthopaedic surgeons, with a clinical focus on arthroplasty and revision.
The successful applicant will participate in elective and trauma orthopaedic surgery, with dedicated OR access provided for Trauma. The Moncton City Hospital is a regional trauma centre serving a population of over 500,000 across southeastern New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and northern Nova Scotia.
In addition to clinical duties, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Participate in the orthopaedic trauma call schedule
- Contribute to resident and medical student education (affiliated with Dalhousie University)
- Engage in available clinical research, quality improvement, and program development
A candidate with a clear vision for arthroplasty focused contributions and leadership will be strongly considered.
Remuneration:
Fee for Service
Standard remuneration is Fee-for-Service which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare of New Brunswick. On call remuneration is provided. No source deductions can be provided.
Qualifications:
- Certification or eligibility for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) in Orthopaedic Surgery
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick
- Fellowship training (minimum 1 year) in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty.
- Coverage or eligibility for coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical skills, ethics, and professionalism as evidenced by at least three strong reference letters, one from the applicant’s residency/fellowship program director
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset but not mandatory

Incentives:
$50,000.00 accompanied by a 2 year return of service.
Relocation reimbursement of up to $8,000.
